In my case I hadn&#039;t had the three rings of death actually appear before my call so I didn&#039;t know how to handle it. I wanted the free repair but if that wasn&#039;t available I wanted to question a real person to understand what would happen. If they were going to charge me, say $100, to fix it, I probably wouldn&#039;t have got it fixed - instead I would have used that money for a new elite unit. But, happily it RRoD&#039;d during the call getting me a free repair.

It takes about 2 minutes and there is no troubleshooting required.  I just said it was Three Red Rings and it gave me choice of box or label.  Just like you I am curious what I will get back now.  It appears there is a new frankenstein board called Opus http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/06/18/opus-model-360s-begining-to-flow/ that is being shipped for repaired machines.</description>
