But with the default AVG installation settings, pesky "No Virus Found" footers like the one shown below appear at the end of every email you send and receive.

They are pointless and serve only as a marketing tool for AVG. They become especially egregious as they pile up, one after the other, at the end of long email discussions.

With a few tweaks to the default AVG settings, they can easily be removed.

Below I show you how to get rid of them in both AVG 8 and the older AVG 7.5.

Removing From AVG 8.x

• Right click on the AVG icon in the system tray on the bottom right of your computer
• Select "Open AVG User Interface"

• Left click on "Tools"
• Left click on the "Advanced Settings" option

• Select (left click) on the Email Scanner option on the left (see below)
• Uncheck both the ‘certify email’ check boxes (circled in red below)
• Note: The ‘check outgoing email – certify email’ option on the right can be tricky. It is grayed out by default.
  • First check the "Check outgoing email" check box (circled in green below) if it is not already checked, to un-grey out the ‘certify-mail’ checkbox below it.
  • Now uncheck the ‘certify e-mail’ check box (circled in red below)
  • Then uncheck the "Check outgoing email" check box (circled in green below) that you you just checked above – unless you want AVG to also check your outgoing email.
• Finally, left click the ‘Apply’ button at the bottom right.

Removing From AVG 7.5

• Right click on the AVG icon in the system tray in the bottom right of your computer
• Select "Launch AVG Free Control Center"

• Left click on the "Email Scanner" component to select it (see image below)
• Left click on the "Properties" button on the bottom right (see image below)

• This opens the Email Scanner settings box (below)

• Click on the "Configure" button (see above)
• Uncheck both of the "Certify mail" check boxes circled in red in the image below (temporarily check the "Check outgoing mail" box to uncheck the ‘Certify mail" box below it).

That’s it!

Be sure to keep the "Check incoming mail" box checked. Whether you want to use your computer’s cycles to check outgoing messages is up to you. I only check incoming messages because I know my PCs are secure.
