Dave, I'm also really liking the sleep and wake mode on my iMac. While the sleep/hybernate modes work on my Lenovo Laptop for the first time ever (after installing XP SP3), they still do not work properly on my Vista x64 Dell XPS behemoth tower system. I either leave it running or shut it down completely. It almost always goes wonky after reviving it from an attempted sleep/hybernation state.

I think Sony's now offering crapware-free laptops. Like you I either uninstall everything, or better yet immediate do a clean install of Windows - though that often leaves me chasing down drivers. The nearly instantaneous sleep and wake modes of Mac laptops make them very useful if you're frequently mobile.
