    This is not good. It wants to take my 25,000 kbps video file and compress it down to 4,500 kbps. Only when I start fooling around with the allowable size can I get the bitrate back up. It’s still decoding and reencoding the frames, so this actually loses quality from the original recording…

      Locuust176 – depending on the video you choose to convert, and the options, it may very well compress. That doesn’t necessarily means it loses (much) quality. The iPhone video is not compressed and can be compressed a LOT before losing quality. This saves space and also makes it much faster to upload to YouTube etc.  But, all that said, I do save/retain the original in a separate folder for future use assuming that one day Microsoft/Apple may fix this.

    That’s great, except why should I have to work with my photos after I take them? This is a know issue, regardless of the reasons (such as Apple claiming that they’re including marks in their photos that are the right way to do it?!) and Apple needs to fix it for the majority that it obviously affects!

    I’ve tried both MP4 and AVI in Free Make Video and both converted showing it right side up but when I PLAY it I only get audio with no picture.  Any suggestions?  Thanks so much.   (Although Microsoft’s Movie Maker is installed on my computer running Windows 7, it can’t be found even during a search in order to use it!)

    Update:  Success!  I changed the “preset” to DVD Quality and that worked.  Now when I save the videos in any format, they play video and audio.  Thank you so much for this help.  Now I can complete converted my sister’s videos from her iPhone of my son’s wedding!  I’m doing the happy dance!!!

    I did as you stated, but apparently I got something wrong.  It rotated the video and converted it, but when I clicked out of the box when I was done, it did nothing.  The original sideways video was still in My Videos….?  Suggestions?
