Greg, there are other iphone apps that get at the same idea. Also, there seems to be a way to use Hotspot Shield with iPhones that might make it possible to get it in Canada. I want to test that one day. If/when I do I'll report back here.

It's a terrific free website for tracking calorie intakes. It can also be accessed via an iPhone/iPod Touch. They don't have an iPhone app, that I know of but they do have an iPhone/iTouch interface that is quite usable on that portable device. You can see it here:

though you'll need an account (they are free for the basic service) to check it out. I have used it on my iPhone.

Thanks for the post, I was minutes away from buying an ipod touch. One of the main reasons for buying was to use 'Lose It!' Now I will reconsider.

Yes, I should have been a bit clearer in my original post. I'm not surprised that the Kindle App isn't available in Canada because the Kindle is not available in Canada. Any app that deals with geo-restricted IP rights/content would, unfortunately be as restricted as the underlying content.

What's surprising about 'Lose it' is that there is no underlying product/IP that would be restricted by borders. I can't imagine that they obtained rights to nutritional information that they cannot export across borders (for example). So I'm still flumoxed by this one.

I just tried to download this same app and subsequently found your post about it. I am also in Canada and get frustrated by this. Just a few days ago I tried to download the free Kindle iPhone app and ran into the same geo-restricted problems.

Yep, this isn't new. I wanted badly to download the IceTV app from Australia several months ago. They were the first to make a full-on program guide and what not.
